English as a Second Language (ESL) Program Overview
The ESL program in communication disorders is designed to provide students who are not bilingual with additional expertise in the areas of ESL assessment and intervention. It consists of the regular coursework, plus two additional classes. Participants will take SHS 539 Second Language Acquisition ( online via University of New Mexico) and CD 548 Bilingual Assessment for Practitioners ( on-line via New Mexico State University).
There is no separate application requirement for the ESL program. when applying to the communication Disorders graduate program, simply indicate whether the ESL program is of interest. Once accepted, simply take the two additional courses.
