Dr. Spencer is the program director for the Communication Disorders program at NMSU. Her interests include investigating the relationship between the ability to perceive, produce and write language in individuals with hearing loss, or who are English language learners. She has published several articles pertaining to speech/language/literacy learning in children who are deaf and who use cochlear implants (CI). She is co PI of a National Institute of Health grant with Dr. Marc Marschark of the National Technical Institute of the Deaf/ Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.

BILINGUAL PROGRAM RECEIVES $1.24 MILLION in FUNDING
